H3N8 Canine Influenza Vaccine
Canine influenza is a highly contagious virus that has been confirmed in 34 U.S. states, including Ohio. Dogs have no natural immunity to the virus and it causes severe respiratory disease. The H3N8 Canine Influenza Vaccine has been developed to help control this disease that can strike at any time of the year. If a dog has not been vaccinated for influenza in the past, it requires an initial vaccine and a booster two to four weeks later. One booster vaccine is required yearly thereafter.
Our clinic is now requiring the influenza vaccine for all boarding and grooming dogs. We are strongly encouraging ALL dog owners to vaccinate for canine influenza. Please call to schedule your appointment today.
For more information about this highly contagious upper respiratory disease, visit the Center for Disease Control website at www.cdc.gov/flu/canine/.
